POLICY
Member Policy
- WBC memberships are on an individual basis. The
entity that pays for the membership maintains the membership.
- The membership term is based on the anniversary year of the member. The
annual fee is $25 (subject to change) per membership, renewable each year and
payable by check or credit card.
- If a company desires more than one employee to become a member, it is
required to pay an additional $25 membership fee for each person.
- Memberships are non-refundable.
- Membership transfers: a company must
pay a $100 processing fee prior to the completion of a membership transfer.
Memberships are transferable only once within the anniversary year.
If a company pays for the individual membership, then that company may
transfer that membership to another individual within the company. If the individual pays for the membership, then the membership may move from company to company with the individual.
Member Agreement
1. General Information
WorldBeat Center is non-profit multi-cultural art organization.
Although many of our programs and services are available to the general
public, certain services (collectively, the "Member Services") are available
only to individuals who have contributed a minimum amount to become part of WBC community (each a "WBC Member"). Member
Services may change from time to time. To become a WBC Member, you must
agree to this Member Agreement (the "Agreement"). By clicking "I Agree" on
this page, you agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement.
To register as a WBC Member, you must provide your email address, a
password, your name, and the city and country where you live. This personal
information, along with any demographic information you provide, is stored
in an electronic file (your "Member Profile"). We hold all your personally
identifying information in strict confidence, in accordance with our Privacy
Policy. It is your
responsibility to keep your Member Profile up-to-date.
WBC Members are asked to make an annual financial contribution to WBC, with a certain minimum contribution required to maintain active
status as a WBC Member. The current minimum contribution is posted at $30. The amount of this minimum contribution
may change from time to time. By making at least this minimum contribution,
your WBC Membership is good for one (1) year. If you choose not to make
this minimum contribution, then your WBC Membership will be suspended.
Your rights as a WBC Member are personal to you and are not
transferable. WBC may modify the terms and conditions of this
Agreement from time to time, and such modifications will be effective upon
notice emailed to you at the address in your Member Profile.
2. Your Content
You are responsible for all text, information, and other material that you
contribute to WBC, whether to email lists through
blog or any other interactive feature of WBC, or that is contributed
from your e-mail address, by any person (collectively, "Your Content").
3. WBC Content
The contents of the WBC web site and email lists (collectively,
"WBC Content") are protected by copyright under the laws of the United
States and other countries. Other than content posted by WBC Members or
members of the general public, or distributed by WBC Members or members
of the general public to third parties, all content on the Rhizome.org web
site and email lists is owned by WBC and its suppliers.
You may download and print out WBC Content for your own personal,
non-commercial use, provided that you agree to abide by any copyright notice
or other restriction contained in any individual posting and include any
author attribution, copyright, or trademark notice or restriction in any
materials that you download.
Unless otherwise specified in the terms for a particular work, you may
not distribute any WBC Content, with the exception of Your Content,
for any commercial purposes. You may get additional usage permissions
from a Creative Commons license on a contributed work or directly from a
contributing artist.
WBC Content includes material that has been edited, as well as material
that is distributed automatically and without editing or filtering. WBC is not responsible for screening, monitoring, or verifying the
WBC Content, including with respect to its accuracy, reliability, or
compliance with copyright and other laws.
4. Disclaimer of Warranty; Limitation of Liability
NEITHER WBC NOR ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS,
REPRESENTATIVES, INFORMATION PROVIDERS, OR LICENSORS ("AFFILIATES") ENDORSE,
REPRESENT OR WARRANT THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, TIMELINESS, OR COMPLETENESS
OF ANY OPINION, STATEMENT OR OTHER MATERIAL ON THE WBC WEB SITE OR
EMAIL LISTS OR THAT THE SAME IS NON-DEFAMATORY, NON-INFRINGING OF COPYRIGHT
OR OTHER RIGHTS, OR OTHERWISE LAWFUL. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ANY RELIANCE ON
OR USE OF SUCH OPINION, STATEMENT, OR MATERIAL SHALL BE AT YOUR SOLE RISK.
NEITHER WBC NOR ITS AFFILIATES WARRANT THAT THE WBC WEB SITE
OR EMAIL LISTS WILL BE AVAILABLE ON A TIMELY BASIS, OR WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED
OR ERROR FREE. THE WBC WEB SITE AND EMAIL LISTS ARE PROVIDED ON AN
"AS IS" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF TITLE OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL WBC OR ITS AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT,
INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE
USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE WBC WEB SITE OR EMAIL LISTS.
5. Right to Terminate Membership or Subscription
Your WBC membership card is a
passport to all the benefits of membership. It verifies your agreement
to abide by the rules and policies of WorldBeat Center. Cards are
nontransferable and remain the property of WBC.
You will be expected to present your membership card at the membership
services desk each time you enter the facility and when registering for
programs. Lost cards may be replaced for a nominal fee.
WBC has the right to suspend or cancel a membership if
the members' behavior or language is judged to be in conflict with the welfare
of other members or staff, or in conflict with the WBC's purpose. The branch
Executive Director will render the final decision on a revoked or suspended
membership.
It's strictly forbidden to borrow and duplicate the membership card.
6. Miscellaneous
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between WBC and you
with respect to the subject matter contained herein. No waiver by WBC or you of any breach or default hereunder shall be deemed to be
a waiver of any preceding or subsequent breach or default.
Privacy Statement
WorldBeat Center is committed to protecting your privacy. If
you have provided us with your name, email address or other personal
information, we will hold that information in the strictest confidence. We will
not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others.

Member Registration
In order to access certain services offered at WBC, you need to register as a member by providing some personal
information, including your email address. When you register you may also choose
to provide additional personal information, including biographical information,
as part of your member profile. You decide whether to make your name and any
other personal information available to other WBC members in our
community directory. We will not disclose your personal information in the
community directory unless you have authorized us to do so, and we will not
disclose your personal information to others unless required to do so by law.
We may use the information that you provide to invite you to events in your
local area, to update you on new developments at WBC or to send you
fundraising appeals. If you don't want to receive such emails, you can opt out
on the WBC web site.
You can update your information and preferences at any time on the WBC web site.
This privacy policy is posted on the WBC web site. If at any time we
substantively modify this policy, we will update this document and notify our
members via email.
