    Greetings Earth Keepers,

It’s been a journey. Thank all of you all over the world for supporting this fast. Thanks for all of your prayers. Thanks to the brothers and sisters that joined me.

We talked about prayer being powerful. We talked about embracing the earth, animals and plants. We also mentioned lowering our Carbon Footprints in this beautiful land that we were given to be stewards and caretakers of. We hope that there are more communions with Nature and more communions with your Families.

With the Earth Changes going on now we need to make a transition into a New Earth. Hopefully we will learn from other Civilizations that have collapsed like the Mayans, Sumerians, Easter Islanders and as far back as Atlantis and Lemuria.

We have to choose a nation that is not just centered on automobiles. We need a diverse transportation system. Bicycles, light rail, buses and cars too. As stated in the book Plan B, the goal will be to maximize mobility and not automobile ownership. Lester Brown also talks about the throwaway economy to be replaced by a comprehensive Re-Use / Recycle economy. This seems cool to me that consumer products should be designed to be disassembled and completely recycled. I never understood the waste of computer products. Also I like the idea that throwaway products such as single use beverage containers will be phased out in this new economy on this new earth. This new economy will have electric hybrid cars, wind turbine, efficient refrigerators and water efficient irrigation systems, Wind farms, rooftop solar panels, recycling facilities, bike paths, reforestation programs and then we are moving closer to an economy that can sustain economic progress. I can go on and on about the environment and the new earth with a new economy, but you have to come to the WorldBeat Center and study Plan B, Rescuing a Planet under stress and a civilization in trouble.

Don’t forget to take care of your body. Tune it like you are tuning a fine instrument. Most folks take care of their car better than they take care of their bodies. Your body is a Temple. Put only high frequency food in your Temple. Cleanse your Temple every seasonal change. You are what you eat and you become what you think. Take time to meditate, remember to stop and be mindful, keep going back to the present moment. Tame your mind. Use your breath to bring you back home when you are feeling lost, alienated or cut off from the world. When your anger arises practice going home. Mindful breathing is your vehicle to take you to your true home. When your house is on fire with anger go back to yourself and take care of the anger like you would a baby. It is the child within us that is suffering. Embrace your anger with just breathing In and Out. We gave you this meditation on the 9th day of the fast. Fasting for Families that are struggling.

Before I move out of here. I want to leave some words for people of color. Anthony Browder put it like this. We have allowed a killer to run loose in the community. This killer is responsible for more deaths than drugs or black on black crime. This killer makes all age groups its victim, stalking its prey during all hours of the day and night. This killer is responsible for the high infant mortality rate and the slow and miserable death of many of our senior citizens. This killer is the diet of African American People and other People of Color. We are suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer of the colon, kidney failure and a host of other dis-eases. If we don’t have the proper nutrition and keep eating these de-minerilized foods we will continue to get sick. Get interested in health and nutrition, cut down your food intake, remove foods high in sugar content (candies, cakes, pies, rolls and ice cream) replace junk food with fruits and nuts. If you eat meat replace it with organic chicken and fish. Remove all inorganic foods from your diet. That’s all synthetic and man-made foods. Clean that refrigerator out and throw that S__t out! Work toward being a healthy Earth Keeper.

All the blessings to all my brothers and sisters out there. Take care of yourself.
This is the end of my fast for peace in the world. I will be continuing for 3 more days for my own personal cleansing. Tomorrow I will start the master cleanser. I’m sure you heard of it. Lemon Juice, water, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. Again thank you for letting me post the fast in your inbox! Now you’re free!

If you would like to continue to Follow WorldBeat Center and myself, JOIN OUR GLOBAL FAMILY. http://www.worldbeatcenter.ning.com

Turn off the TV and those negative playstations. I’ll be watching you!

    Stand Firm

Day 12 – Dedicated to the Heroes & Sheroes

This day is dedicated to the Giants that we are standing on the shoulders of.

A lot of great people of all races and spiritual disciplines have sacrificed so we are here today including our ancestors. They had selflessly worked for all of us to gain awareness, to awaken from this dream and cultivate a place of beauty and freedom.

They gave us the strength to resist injustice. They gave us compassion to forgive and to learn from the people who don’t forgive and to let go of what is not love. They taught us that forgiveness is healing and things that happened to us were just misunderstandings and wrong perceptions.

They taught us to be grateful because of all the work and pain they had to endure for us to be in this country today.

They told us to clean our minds of emotional poison and live in peace and freedom.

This fast is honoring the Hero’s and Shero’s and again we are expressing gratitude to them for giving us this precious gift. Every day we should give gratitude to the ancestors of this country for their steadfast devotion to freedom.

We would like to say happy birthday to Cesar Chavez! I’m fasting for you Mr. Chavez, who fasted for so many farm workers that were treated unjustly (as a youth I worked in those fields and know how hard it was)

To Harriet Tubman, who said she could have freed more slaves if only they knew they were slaves! If sister Harriet lived today she would see slavery still exists within our minds.

Dedicated to all those who have dedicated their lives to freedom for all.

    In Gratitude,

    Makeda

Tomorrow is the last day of the fast. Day 13. Transformation / Finding our way back home.

    community_mtg.jpg Blessed Love ,

    Greetings Global Family,

This is the 11th day of the fast and today it's for the WorldBeat Center and other Grassroots Non Profits. Most of the small Non Profit Institutions did not get any stimulus money. This is nothing new because we always had to struggle. Now we are calling on our community to help a Non Profit of your choice. There are so many good organizations out there, doing good things, that need your help. It would be a shame to see them go under. Remember that these organizations serve as a service to our community. Where would we be without Art, Music and Culture? It is so important that our children are exposed to music at a young age even before computers.

Here at the WorldBeat Center, we have numerous programs for the community, and a lot of them are free or sliding scale. We have a large Special Needs class that would make you cry with joy! These kids come alive with music. There is about 60 youths of color that we teach every Monday. We do not charge them to take the class. You should come in and see this miracle that takes place here at the Beat! Also we teach Women in Recovery Program every Thursday. They learn Yoga, Meditation, Drumming, Dance and Self-Empowerment. You should really see the change in these sisters! We need your support to keep our 5th Grade Children's Program in Balboa Park. This program has been around since the 60's. There are so many good programs being cut. This is scary! Most of you know all the other classes we teach...not to mention our Free Annual Events like Earth Day, Martin Luther King Day, Kwanzaa, Film Festivals, Marcus Garvey Day, Environmental Workshops and more.

Give to Non Profits, even if it's a small amount. Please support a Non Profit of your choice in these crucial times. Put back in your community; make it more beneficial and beautiful.

128_0891.JPGMarcus Garvey said, " A People without the Knowledge of their Culture is like a tree planted without its Roots"

In these times we need music and culture programs to feed our spirit. So get off your butts and stop being complacent. Do something. "Music is the Weapon of the Future" Fela Kuti.

    Consciously yours,
    Makeda

Greetings Global Family, I know it’s very hard to have a loved one that incarcerated especially your own child or wife or husband. At any rate it hurts to be away from your family member. When it comes to our children we wonder “How did this happen and what did I do wrong?” We can see our children doing things that we know will cause them to suffer, we try to tell them but their ears are closed. You have to realize this is all Karmic and they have to go through experiences in life themselves.

With my own child I could not understand how she got into the prison system. She lived in a loving household with positive influences but when she got out into the world she watered her unwholesome seeds, which are actually stored in all of us. For a long time she did not listen. But later on in life she realizes the things that I taught her which gave her a strong foundation in those difficult times. We may not see it now but if we give them a right way of viewing life, when those storms in life come up, they'll be able to return to their foundation, which are the wholesome seeds stored in their Consciousness. Brothers and sisters get working on that garden! Just plant wholesome seeds in your children and your family and keep watering those seeds with mindful living and goodness. You know no matter how much we tell our kids they have to have direct experience like I said, we will be here for them when they come to this realization. That's what we have to give them, the right view and diligence in life and that makes a solid foundation.

Our minds, sometimes, have layers of ignorance, disappointment and sorrow and we do things without thinking. If we don't have right thinking definitely were going down the path of sorrow.

It's very difficult for me to see so many people of color in prison when we make up such a small percentage of the population that tells me something is really wrong here. We need to work very hard to put these brothers and sisters into college and not the prison complex. Not all of our youth want to go to college; there should be more vocational training schools. I would like to see more of the youth of color being included in Green Collar Jobs.

If you let a parolee out of jail and not give him a job he has nothing else to do but go back to prison eventually. I would like to see more programs for the transition from prison to work. We need help them adjust and seek right livelihood once they are out in the world.

We need to teach that a right vocation is very important even if you have to deny yourself things to have it. And all you youths need to listen to this. You have to earn your living without transgressing your ideas of love and compassion. That means not dealing in arms, selling alcohol or drugs or any poison. And not do work that involves harming someone's life and the environment. If you want a job that has right livelihood don't even get into the job that involves killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying or selling drugs or alcohol. Again nothing that pollutes the rivers or the air. We can change our destiny is all up to us.

    In Solidarity

First of all I'd like to thank everyone all over the world for supporting my fast!
    Mak_radio.jpg
Sister Asante, thank you for your kind words, and i'm proud of you for helping your friend that is out of work. Putting the People First, when you have your own trials and tribulations going on. You too have lost your job. I'm sending you strength through my fasting.
Nick, my man, from Trinidad, long time I haven't heard from you. Thank you for your kind words. That also goes for Akashi from Japan, Randy from Hawaii, Asomaning from Ghana, Sonia from Ecuador, Masada from Washington State, Sheilagh from St. Thomas and everyone else that has been so compassionate.

Today's Fast is for the Families that are struggling. As I said before, please turn off or limit the TV access. There is so much violence on TV. It's a waste of precious time. We must teach our children to read more. Keep a book with you at all times. "Those who read shall lead".

Please go outdoors, to the park or to the mountains, with your family. You can even pitch a tent and camp in your back yard to be next to nature. It is spring and we need to be outdoors riding a bike or gardening. Have your kids plant a garden with you. If you are out of a job turn this into a blessing. It gives you more time with your family. We work to much anyway! That's the Plan... If your to busy you can't really be aware of whats really going on. You remain unaware of yourself, your family, your dogs and everything around. I know in this economic crisis, your family needs steady income but try to turn poison into medicine. In nature where ever there is a poisonous plant, the antidote is growing near.

Just remember in this time of despair when you are feeling overwhelmed, Love is still here. A very wise man said "At this time our capacity to communicate, to forgive, to be compassion is still there" You have to believe this...We are more than our anger and we are more than our suffering.

To your loved ones, use loving speech and kind words. Remember to smile when you wake up. Just have some reminders around you to keep you smiling. The sun in the morning, coming in, your child's voice. Just keep smiling. It helps you approach your day with gentleness and understanding.

Remember earlier I was talking about taking three breaths when you were feeling upset and having anxiety, keep continuing to do that to keep yourself calm in these times. You can practice this Conscious Breathing approach that a Master gave us.

Recite these 4 lines silently as you breath:
"Breathing in, I calm my Body"
    "Breathing out, I smile"
"Dwelling in the Present Moment, I know this is a wonderful moment"

Bless You - Now you are Meditating

mak_8.jpgRas Jahluel's Memorial was full of light and love. We started out honoring him with Native American Drummers, the Red Warriors. He was a Sundancer and we went to Big Mountain together. I did a Sweat Lodge with this brother many times. Nana Yaw Asiedu poured Libation in the Yoruba Tradition, which he practices also. Then there was a transition into Rastafari, lead by Boboshanti Priest, Ras Anton. Family and community was highly present.

I found qoutes from great sources like, Morning Messages and Peace Pilgrim, to leave with you.

Here is the qoute from the Morning Message:

    jahwal.jpg
"We are here to serve humanity in awakening to their multi- dimensional Self by empowering them to honor their heart
as a chalice for coherent transforming emotions of joy,
    gratitude and appreciation."

    Quote from Peace Pilgrim:

"Remember this: Be still and know that I am God. Don't ever forget who you are! You cannot be where God is not."

n886085390_6193432_7989324.jpgFasting for the Earth, Animals and Plants

There are Earth changes happening at this time on the
planet, as you know. It is very important that we are aware of these activities as the Earth continues to accelerate into higher frequencies. It is all about frequencies at this time. We must raise our frequencies by staying away from toxic food and toxic people.

We must wake up and become aware at this time of purification. We must make better choices in our buying and consuming habits. Like if people on earth recognize what the health effects of eating beef are and what it does to the environment, the consumption would really drop. That's
another story and you should check it out for yourself.

What we need to do is to restructure our priority’s support the local farmers. We should buy locally and cut down the need to have our food
brought in by trucks and air. That's more dependence on oil. The other day I saw grapes flown in from South Africa and peaches from Chile, we don't need that kind of luxury. We need food that is grown in season, that is our natural makeup, the indigenous people eat what is grown in their area.

With these new earth changes our social structure is going through a great transformation, please don't buy into fear. Let us remember that we can’t do the same things that we used to do before, we must remain aware. With this rising frequency all things will be uncovered that was suppressed before. So let's stay focused clean up our diets because we want strong immune systems in these times.

Pray that we get away from that dependence on fossil fuel so we can build a sustainable future. You know solar and wind is definitely the way to go. I would like to see more eco-villages and Co-housing.

WorldBeat Center, our cultural Center has a lot of classes on rescuing a planet under stress and this is about a civilization in trouble.

Every first and fourth Saturday at 4:30pm we are discussing in a group the book Plan B. by Lester Brown and it talks about the melting ice, rising seas, more destructive storms climate change, shrinking forests, advancing deserts, disappearing plants and animals. Also about a throw away
economy in trouble. So the WorldBeat Center is dedicated to being a University of Universal Wisdom at this time.

In April were bringing you Qi Gong, Sound Healing and a lot of other classes to raise your frequencies to these changes that were experiencing on our way to 2012.

Alot of brothers and sisters, join me on this fast and I want to thank you. Some gave up sugar and others gave up smoking. I love it! The beauty about it is that we were in unity.

In a people united will never be defeated. A lot of our leaders fast for peace and strength. This is my seventh day and I felt stronger than ever because I have all of you. Thank you Zimbabwe and I am fasting for you. Thank you Ecuador and you are our brothers and sisters.

mak_mural.jpgWar will never end until we look deep within and realize Makeda at WorldBeat Center who is the real enemy and it is our unwholesome thoughts. Peace will never come until we realize that we must rid ourselves of greed, hatred, jealousy, division and selfishness.
We must take time be still.

From the stillness we are able to listen and hear what is coming from within. Take time in the morning to look deeply within and program your day with positive affirmations and healing thoughts, surround yourself with light and basic goodness.

Pray for the world, your family and your community and yourself. Prayer is powerful. Throughout the day, before you get caught up your habitual energy of worrying or fixating on your computer, take time to pause and take three conscious breaths. This pause practice can transform each day of your life. It's an open doorway to sacredness. It will let your mind relax and drop the storyline. And give you a chance to reconnect with the present moment. Be mindful of what you eat and drink during the day.

Remember "You are what you eat and you become what you think."

When you get home at night turn off the TV and read a mindfull book, something on consciousness or liberation. Take a nice bath, it's always nice to read in the bathtub when you retire. Take time to review your whole day and look deep within. Look at how kind or unkind you were to people. Look at your anger, impatience and competitiveness.

Pray and say you're sorry to that person in your prayers or face to face.

Always practice forgiveness and please don't carry a grudge. It is probably another misunderstanding.

We need to practice deep listening within our families and with other people. We don't need to win every conflict, just realize it's a misunderstanding and drop the storyline. No one wins in war. There is war and misunderstanding in our communities all over the world.

At this time I would like to give my deep love and condolence to Luciano and his family. There was a shootout at his residence 3 police were wounded and his bodyguard shot dead. No one wins in war.

Please join me on this fast for external and internal cleansing. Tomorrow we'll talk more about fasting.

    One Perfect Love.

n886085390_6175947_2755946.jpgFast & Pray for Compassion and Peace
Live simply. Please don't occur anymore debt.. Join a community garden or grow your own. If you can't do that, find a local growers market. Have compassion for our brothers and sisters that are out of a job in this time of purification. We are all interconnected. If our community is hurting it hurts us too. Fast & Pray at least one day a week. Please join me in this fast for peace, compassion and oneness.

    Bless

    Habari Gani – Umoja (Unity)

    Happy Kwanzaa!

WorldBeat Cultural Center has served the Global and San Diego Community for over 25 years with our motto “Healing the World Trough Music, Art, Dance & Culture”.

WBC is Dedicated to the Upliftment of Humanity through Culture.

In order to “Keep the Beat” in these transitioning times, WorldBeat Cultural Center needs your help with Donations and Memberships.

WorldBeat Center needs your commitment to help us continue to build, develop and preserve Music, Art, Dance & Culture for the present and future generations. We need to continue to have a Cultural Center in Balboa Park, within which, all people can share each others culture.

              Y
ou can help the WorldBeat Center by making a donation, whatever the amount. We know you have less to give right now, but we are asking every member of the community to give what they can and, if possible, to commit to giving monthly. Regular donations from as many people as possible can impact our community now like never before. You can give online at www.worldbeatcenter.org or by calling (619) 230-1190, or by mailing a check to: WorldBeat Center, 2100 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101.

Family, Community and Culture is the foundation of Kwanzaa. It is based on the Nguzo Saba (Seven Principles), which should be practiced daily. These principles are the foundation of WorldBeat Center and our logo is the continuation of these principles. Here's the first three to reflect on.

Unity (Umoja) is the vehicle to overcome the problems that are challenging us today.

Becoming a Member and uniting our common goals, guarantees our continued success in providing the high quality services and programming that WBC has been known for over the years. Of our many programs, WBC has identified five that you can directly impact by becoming a member. The Ethno-Botanical Garden Program, Disabled Program, Children’s Program, Media Arts Program and Arts and Wellness Program. With Self-Determination (Kujichagulia) we can commit to having the strength to overcome our obstacles. We need to develop Collective Work & Responsibility (Ujima) in order for Cultural Community Center’s like the WorldBeat Center and other Non Profit Organizations to continue it’s programming and outreach. That’s to build and maintain our community together and make our brothers and sisters problems, our problems, and solve them together on a national level, on a community and on a family level. Our collective identity is our strength for the future.

WBC's School of Music and Dance has classes for adults and children, teaching diversity through music, art and culture. WorldBeat Center has the most qualified teachers from different cultures around the world. The center's 200 annual Cultural Events and programs expose San Diego Area audiences to Cultures from all over the World. WorldBeat Center is the First Solar Building in Balboa Park with future goals to be a completely Green Building by 2010.

It’s important for us to continue to be open with a sense of tremendous generosity, tremendous goodness and tremendous compassion. The more we give, the more we gain. Let's continue to have faith that we will move through these challenges, we have in the past and we will in the present.
