Dr. Kwaku is an educator, historian, musicologist, author and broadcast producer
of the renowned Afrikan Mental Liberation Weekend 30 hour radio specials that
evolved into Afrikan Mental Liberation Films held at Compton College. Dr. Kwaku
is one of the innovators of teaching Afrikan world history and has taught this
particular course for over a decade. He is also the author of FIRST WORD Black
Scholars Thinkers Warriors, and On My Journey Now: The Narrative And Works Of
Dr. John Henrik Clarke, as well as over 150 published articles, essays and
chapters in books.
In addition to teaching at Loyola Marymount University, he also teaches an
Afrikan World Civilizations Course in Leimert Park and a summer youth course at
View Park Prep. He is married with five grown sons and two
grandchildren.
